Newsletter February 2018

This newsletter is to provide users of the hall with information on the key activities undertaken by the Woodbury Hall Committee. Users are more than welcome to attend our meetings to help us with our plans and ideas for the future. All opinions and ideas will be welcomed. The dates for the meetings are on the website under ‘Hall Information’.

  • Woodbury Community Hall is now part of the Co-op local community fund.  So the more you spend at the Co-op, the more we get towards our refurbishment fund!!

  • New fireproof and blackout curtains have been purchased and fitted improving the look of the hall and keeping it warmer when they are closed. We have recycled the old curtains and hung them on new rails in the ladies toilet.

  • We have improved the information about the hall with the introduction of a website www.woodburycommunityhall.uk

  • An information book for hall users is now on the table in the foyer.

  • The hatches from the hall to the kitchen have been replaced with new, roller shutters, improving the looks and safety.

  • John, a member of the art classes held at the hall has supplied and installed a new picture hanging system. He has also hung a number of his paintings for all of us to enjoy. Thank you, John.

  • We have replaced the old, smaller tables with 12 new, smaller folding tables.

Plans for the year ahead.

  • The “Tesco Bags of Help scheme – Money for local communities” will be in place for Woodbury Community Hall during March and April this year at the Axminster and Lyme Regis Tesco stores. So please increase our chances of getting the maximum amount of money available by putting your token in the right slot!

  • We plan to run an Open Day, at some point, so  users of the hall can meet and share views etc

  • We are going through the final stages of planning for the much-needed redecoration of the hall, both inside and out.

  • We have also had plans drawn up for a refurbishment of the kitchen. The first step is to provide an additional doorway from the hall into the kitchen to make for easier access.

  • We also hope to run a number of fundraising events during the year, e.g. Quiz, Bingo and the annual Christmas party.
