Newsletter October 2018

This newsletter is to provide users of the hall with information on the key activities undertaken by the Woodbury Community Hall Committee. Users are more than welcome to attend our meetings to help us with our plans and ideas for the future.

All opinions and ideas will be welcomed. The dates for the meetings are on the website under ‘Hall Information’

  • Woodbury Community Hall is part of the Co-op local community fund.  So the more you spend at the Co-op, the more we get towards our refurbishment fund!!

  • We were chosen to be part of the “Tesco Bags of Help scheme – Money for local communities” It ran during March and April at the Axminster and Lyme Regis Tesco stores and we were awarded £1,000.

    • We have completed the first stage of our redecorating plan by repainting the main hall, entrance lobby, ladies toilets, gents and disabled toilets.
    • A new flushing system has been installed in the gents toilets.
    • We have also carried out a total refurbishment of the kitchen. This included the provision of an additional doorway from the hall into the kitchen to make for easier access.
    • Subject to funds being available, we plan to carry out decorating the outside of the hall next year.
  • We have a number of fundraising events planned. Fish & Chip Quiz supper on 10th November 2018 (See poster below) and the annual Christmas party on the 1st December 2018.

    • Cleaning of the hall is now being carried out by Top to Bottom Cleaning Services (Honiton).
    • We plan to run an Open Day, in the Spring of 2019, so users of the hall can meet and share views etc.
  • We hope to be able to replace the flooring in the toilets and lobby area in the near future.

Finances

  • With all the work we have carried out and the further improvements the committee would like to make, we have decided that we need to make a small increase to the fees for hiring the hall. The new charges will be:-
      • £7.50 per hour for one-off bookings. Increase for new bookings from October 2018.
    • £6.00 per hour for regular bookings. The regular booking fee will increase from 2019.
